Itinerary

Day 1

Upon your departure from Thunder Bay you will fly with Nakina Air, a scheduled air service from Thunder Bay to Webequie. Webequie is located 540 km north of Thunder Bay, in the remote wilderness of northern Ontario. Upon your arrival into the community you will be greeted by your guide, Lillian Suganaqueb, who will transport you to your cabin accomodations. For the afternoon you will get a chance to try your hand at fishing with your guides for various species in the almighty Winisk River. Stopping to enjoy your freshly caught fish and bannock over an open fire - affectionately known as a 'Shore Lunch' to northerners - will be one of the most memorable experiences of your northern vacation.

Day 2

Today enjoy a tour of the remote native community of Webequie, beautifully situated along the Winisk River. As you tour the community you will learn about the culture and vist the recent developments of the community. In the afternoon local elders will come by for you to watch as they delicately prepare traditional foods for your dinner. You will also have the opportunity to view and purchase local handicrafts.

Day 3

Today is the final day of your trip in the remote community of Webequie as you spend time with the First Nations. You get to travel by boat to view landmarks of the area while dropping your line in for additional fishing. Finally, you will be transported to the airport to catch your flight back to Thunder Bay.
